Daran Wang and Rebecca Myers
"Creating The Memory Box"
Wednesday, March 21st, 2001, 3:00 p.m.
Daren Wang, lead staff producer for WABE 90.1 FM in Atlanta,
and Rebecca Meyers, a local freelance writer, will talk about
their new 13 part series for National Public Radio titled "The
Memory Box," a series that will deal with the treasured
memory objects and associated narratives by elderly Americans
highlighting important transitions in their lives. A discussion
of the proposed series concept will follow as well as possible
collaborations with MARIAL scholars.

Daren Wang is the lead staff producer for WABE
90.1 FM in Atlanta. His production credits include: Circle of
Friends, part of National Public Radio's Playhouse series; Porches:
The South and Her Writers, a nationally distributed 13-part
series; the ongoing weekly series Between The Lines; and WABE's
collaboration with Emory University, Science in Your Life.
Rebecca Myers--a freelance writer--has been a
publisher of an antiquarian book magazine, a professional storyteller,
and a hospital volunteer gathering life stories from the elderly.

DIRECTIONS TO THE MARIAL CENTER
The MARIAL Center is located on the 4th floor
of the main building of Emory West, 1256 Briarcliff Rd. There
is ample parking close to the building. Alternatively, you may
take the Emory shuttle (Route W). The shuttle leaves every half
hour from the main campus and is a 10-minute ride. Route W shuttle
stops are located at the corner of Asbury Circle and Pierce
Drive, along Pierce Drive, and in front of the Administration
Building.
