MARIAL CENTER COLLOQUIUM
Miriam Weinstein
(author, journalist, former documentary filmmaker)
Home For Supper: the Power of an Everyday
Meal
Wednesday, November 10, 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Miriam Weinstein is a Boston-based journalist and
former documentary filmmaker whose recent best-selling book, “Yiddish:
A Nation of Words,” won the National Jewish Book Award, and
has been translated into three foreign editions. She is working
on a book about the benefits of family supper.
She will talk about her upcoming book, “Home
For Supper: The Power of an Everyday Meal.” Because supper
includes many different components -- nutrition, manners, language
acquisition, family dynamics, ethnic and religious traditions --
it gives us a lens for looking at the structure of the American
family. Supper is a beacon of stability and an agent of change.
